A youngster in Xinxiang, Central China's Henan Province, reportedly took two years painting cartoons on the walls of his hometown village, making the village a scenic spot in the local region.
Shang Qinjie, born in the 1990s, used to be an art teacher.
Shang said that he started painting the walls of the village in March 2020.
"I have been staying home during the epidemic. Inspired by a friend, I started the paintings," he said.
"At first, I was a little hesitant since the work seemed to be very messy and tiresome. But looking at the gray walls of the village, I thought that maybe I can spend my spare time painting it with new colors and do something meaningful for my hometown," Shang said.
The village has now turned into a "fairy-tale world." All kinds of lifelike scenery oil paintings have replaced gray walls, ranging from cartoons to pictures of wheat fields and cows.
Now it has attracted visitors from all over the country.
