Local court in Nanjing, East China's Jiangsu Province, has recently ruled that a father's way of parenting constitutes domestic violence for forcing the kids to learn courses intended for higher education.

The father with a doctorate degree surnamed Mao was reportedly forcing his 7-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter to learn advanced mathematics and ancient Chinese prose, subjects more commonly studied in university and high school.

During their studies, he even abused and beat the two children.

Reacting to his treatment of the children, Mao's wife applied for a personal safety protection order from a local court in Nanjing. The court classified Mao's practices as domestic violence.

Netizens slammed the father of haste making waste. Every parent hopes for their children to have a bright future. Yet, this "tiger dad's" parenting is far too radical. Parents should avoid repeating this father's mistakes. Education should follow objective laws.
